This Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ is a fascinating classic sports car, modified in period to go ice racing and benefitting from significant recent mechanical work. One of just 169 “Coda Tonda” (round tail) cars built by Zagato for Alfa Romeo between 1960 and 1961.
According to the Certificato di Origine that we received from Centro Documentazione Alfa Romeo the car was delivered in September 1960 to Stockholm, Sweden in the current color combination of Red with Black. The first owner, Carl “Charlie” Lohmander of Stockholm Sweden, participated just after delivery in the “Deutschland Rallye”, this event was organized from 28 September until 2 October 1960. Mr. Lohmander drove together with Stig Gruen. The couple would finish second in class. The car received its first Swedish registration, AA 874. In 1961, the car would go to the second owner, a Mr. Sven Artur Cronvall from Halmstad, Sweden. He registered the car with plate N 7547.
