Real Art on Wheels welcomes unique Lotus Elite

lotus-elite-37

Recently, we were contacted by the son of mr J. Bos from Amsterdam. He told us an interesting story…

In 1960, a Mr Asselberg from Ulvenhout (The Netherlands) retired and was looking for a sportscar to enjoy in his free time. He was not the type of person willing to wait for a long time, so after making some phonecalls he went to F. Staumont in Buxelles (Belgium). Staumont was the official Lotus distributor for Belgium, as there was no distributor for The Netherlands yet. One car was available, it was the light blue/purple right hand drive car. He bought the car immediately and drove the car back to The Netherlands. After 7 years, it was time to sell the car.

At the same moment Mr Bos was interested – after seeing a similar model (the Colin Chapman’s Lotus Elite) around the formula 1 racing circuit of Zandvoort. He contacted some specialists and was forwarded to Mr Asselberg who considered to sell his car. Mr Bos was 34 years old, a mathematics teacher and father of a young family.

He bought the car. And kept it for 52 years. This might be one of the most original and very well documented Lotus Elites available in todays market. The car’s history wasn’t known with the Lotus Register until we contacted them and the car is completely original. We are proud to offer this fabulous Lotus Elite for sale in our showroom in the Amsterdam Lake District. Please, don’t hesitate to contact us for further details or an appointment for inspection.
